The Bathroom

I have gotten over my phobia of public restrooms a while ago. I used to be one of those people that refused to use public toilets... or unfamiliar toilets for that matter. I would go an entire road trip without visiting the restroom. It couldn't have been healthy but I figured it was the lesser of two evils.

I think it was coffee that broke me of this habit. Yes coffee. The wonderful, hot, morning pick-me-up ... that sends it all straight through you. By 10 AM at work, my gut is making uncomfortable growly noises, forcing me to go to restroom whether I want to or not.

It's usually all good if no ones in there. I know guys have their own etiquette bathrooms. Girls seem to be all over the place....

What else is new

I never really understood the pack mentality some girls have when it comes to visiting the restroom. If I had the choice I would choose an empty bathroom over one full of my girlfriends any day. I've actually been in a restroom where women were talking to each other while in separate stalls.

Pee time is me time.

Poo time... well that's just special. But also me time.

I don't mind it when people use a restroom for restroom things.  But it is not a place people should seek out for socializing. I walked in on a women talking on her cellphone and painting her nails today. REALLY? There is a lounge area right outside the bathroom you could do that in. If she was worried about ventilation, the bathroom is really not the place for that.

In the end I think everyone would prefer to have a private bathroom over a public one. I do feel bad for the people who haven't gotten over the stigma of using them at all.

Well yay for toilet talk. I never really quite know how to end these things. I guess the just end.

Insert

When I decide not to take a lunch break at work I usually give myself 15 minutes to just draw something for fun. This is what I made.

Why I love Escapist Magazine

So many wonderful videos so many wonderful quotes. Yahtzee of Zero Punctuation is full of wit and harsh but valid insight when it comes to games. I love his hilarious commentary though I need to ration my viewings because I catch myself getting cynical after an afternoon's worth. Unskippable is equally funny, taking excessively long game intro cinematic and voicing over them MST3K style. It's fun getting a taste of some games I know I will never play and getting a good laugh too. Loading Ready Run is a series of video shorts that has the two creators of Unskippable and a number of other cast members. Very clever and funny. Their archives have a couple of gems. Rebecca Mayes is another one of my favorites. She is a fantastic musician and song writer. I would listen to her songs even if they weren't game reviews. That's right, they are game reviews. It's wonderful.

I've actually watched and keep up with most of the video series on The Escapist, though the ones I've named above are the only ones that aren't really guilty pleasures. The other series I usually just listen to at work. I don't really 'watch' them. I'm usually a little disappointed when I stop and actually watch them because I tend to like what my imagination plays out rather than the actual video clips or animations show. Just my opinion. They are definitely worth listening to if nothing else.

So that's a brief run down of why I love Escapist Magazine.com. I will leave you with a quote from Zero Punctuation that evaluates the three current generation game consoles.

"The Wii is an excitable little yappy bastard. Good with children but a little exhausting. The PS3 is a big dependable black monster. Slow but loving, bringing your slippers in every morning And the 360 is a good old rounder that only occasionally pisses itself and dies."

Wonderful...

The Secret of Kells

I looove Netflix on Xbox Live. I just watched a gorgeous animated film called The Secret of Kells. Yeah it was a kids movie, but every frame of animation could stand alone as a piece of artwork. It was beautiful and inspiring. I couldn't quite get into an arty enough mood to ride on the inspiration wave from it but I tried. I recommend it to all.

Floyd . Jen's Pink Guitar

So, I've been feeling unusually creative this past week. I tried utilizing it in my LiveJournal, but it's just not customizable enough for my taste. So I caved and got a Blogger page. Kind of fun.

So here I am. Still setting up the place and making it home. I'm up much too late (like I usually am when I start something like this). I'm supposed to get up early tomorrow and I'm driving brother into work with me. Why is everyone so excited about getting to work early these days. It's awesome and all but it sucks getting uuuuup. : P

Oh well.
